COVID-19(SARS-CoV-2) Notice
BMFYA will continue to be committed to the health and safety of mentors, mentees, and community partners. We will operate in accordance to CDC guidelines while adhering to advisory measures provided by the Virginia Department of Health and the office of the Governor of Virginia.
Our Mentors
Our mentors are dedicated to the growth of these young men and their success. Within, the last few years we have had well over 100 participants successfully complete the program. Several of the young men have entered college, some are gainfully employed and others have extended their relationship with the mentors beyond the eight weeks because of the positive impact the program had on their lives and the continued benefit they felt participating in the program would continue to have.

The Broken Men Foundation Youth Academy (BMFYA), a non-profit organization, was established in 2014, as a division of The Broken Men Foundation with one mission - to support the youth. The Academy specializes in mentoring young men between the ages of 12-18, and the program offers a 20-week curriculum covering a variety of topics, aimed at better understanding adolescent behavior to allow our mentors to teach problem solving skills. Our organization is deeply rooted in academic achievement, the establishment of social skills, self-esteem and responsibility, citizenship and community involvement. Our ultimate goal is to make young men accountable for their actions, thus enabling them to become productive members of our community.
Program Highlights
Our Curriculum
BMFYA’s curriculum consists of a 20-week session that encourages positive interaction with others by reinforcing social skills on a weekly basis. Weekly sites are determined by topic and facilitator; which is often impacted by community partnerships. Sessions are finalized with a graduation ceremony and a large scale activity giving thanks for the kids who endured towards the finish line. All participants are invited back to the following session; with older boys having peer mentoring responsibilities.
